Introduction

Gigabyte GA-8S655FX Ultra Box

SIS has been always popular for its lower budget level segment. Undeniably, they had a fair share of problems when it comes to chipsets in the past. Recently they had shown a bright potential of bringing up their chipset products against today’s toughest rivals in the mainboard arena. If done right, SIS will be able to capture more than just its initial budget market.

Gigabyte has offered us the opportunity to review their SIS option, the Gigabyte GA-8S655FX Ultra. This board utilizes SIS 655FX Chipset which was designed to pit on against Intel’s i865PE solution. Previously, Robert had reviewed the SIS 655FX reference board and the results we're astonishing. Now we'll see its actual commercial performance. It would be interesting to see how SIS fares compared to its i865 contender.
